The European Conference on Computational Optimization (EUCCO) series was started in 2004. The first edition took place in Dresden, and was followed in 2007 by a conference in Montpellier, and in 2013 by a conference in Chemnitz. The 2016 edition will be held in Leuven, Belgium.
PhD student Jolan Wauters from UGent got rewarded for his poster on the effect of wing fences to prevent airplane crashes. You can download his winning poster here!
Congrats Jolan !
The aim of ICNAAM 2015 is to bring together the leading scientists of the international Numerical and Applied Mathematics community and to attract original research papers of very high quality. Simon Abraham from the VUB is presenting a paper on "Effect of geometrical uncertainties on the performance of heat exchangers using an efficient POD-based model reduction technique". An abstract of the paper can be downloaded here!
Adjoint based sensitivity computations can be applied in many fields of modern CFD such as: error estimation for adapted grid generation (EE), multidisciplinary optimization (MDO) and uncertainty quantification (UQ). The latter application in UQ is relatively new and few developments exist. The purpose of this lecture series is to bring together the researchers from these different communities, and to stimulate the common interest and exchange of knowhow in using the adjoint formulation.
Today, the EUFORIA project was launched with a kick off meeting. All partners were present at the VUB for the official start. More information can be found on the "Euforia Project" section.
